Societal expectations of sex don’t make any sense

If dudes are expected to have a lot of sex

But ladies are expected to stay virgins until marriage

But homosexuality is bad

I’m really confused who dudes are supposed to be having all that sex with

I agree with you in most of these pairings - but you don’t like some my pairings, lol ^ ^ I think it’s very indyvidual - for example I’m not into Camus/Milo or Saori/Seiya (for me Saori&Seiya are not canon - there were some signals but nobody said…

First of all don’t worry for your English, I understand it ;)

Yes indeed, I think it’s all a matter of taste, even if these are my parameters rather than likings; in fact there are very valid couples that I don’t ship, but that I haven’t put in that list either, for example Mu/Shaka and Marin/Aiolia. I consider very valid the ones you mentioned too, while a couples like Milo/Shaina would somehow break their characters, since Milo’s shown very proud and almost closed in his caste while Shaina is canonically in love with Seiya.

Obviously yes, following the anime, there isn’t the problem of incest ;) in Italy we have a similar situation; the manga is pretty popular (I think most of the fans read it or know the plot) but the problem is that our dub is not faithful to the original so… pff they changed even the names (for example Marin became Castalia!)

As for Ocs, I think that the key is to learn the “tricks of the trade” of the fandom and to avoid self-insertion :P about this, I wrote something in day#20, I just have to revise it and I’ll post it! :)

So Aiolia is visiting Poland eh! I’m coming!!!! *U*

arietide ha detto: I agree with your considerations (and your disliked ships) so hard. The part where people actively see crack and parody as a serious thing struck a chord particularly, because here in Brazil it is SO prevalent to some couples (notoriously, DM/Aphro)

As much as I like this pairing, I’m far from considering it canon. To be honest, from 1 to 10 (where 1 is Aiolos/Sorrento and 10 Orphée/Eurydice), I couldn’t go beyond a narrow 6. They know each other, belong to the same class, and if we want we can say they appears together a couple of times. I consider it one step ahead from other couples because they followed Saga together (they’re aware of the complicity of the other, I mean, as stated by Aphrodite) and they have the same view on power - at least in the manga, so probably they had recurrent contacts. That’s why I’d put it above a random Aiolia/Aldebaran, lol.

Generally speaking, are crack pairing more popular than canon/plausible ones in Brazil? Recently I’ve noticed an explosion of unbelievable pairings in Italy, but there are some couples (considered pretty fanon by now) that still resist - the evergreen Milo/Camus (constantly compared to/mistaken for/blended with Degel/Kardia tho) and Aiolia/Marin, for example. But I’ve come across some fics that I will never forget x’D (I read a post of yours about it, omfg, I really wonder where certain ideas come from)

Gonna butt in your post a little (so don’t mind me XD)

Ironically, I’m also from Brazil and what I see around here the most is usually the opposite: people who like canon pairings so much they even depreciate people who like crackships/not-so-plausible pairings in general (and they also tend to end up saying things like “oh, you see the hand position and their expression in this pannel right here?? it means it is cannon much more than your pairing so yours is just outrageous!” or simply ignoring these people completely etc, what I personally think it’s pretty ridiculous).

However, I do agree that we have here an obscene amount of crack fics with terribly written/poor headcanon. That doesn’t mean though (to me, ofc), that a good fic needs to be canon and/or plausible to be good/well written at all.

Also, when it comes to characterization (because some crackships comes from this as well XD), we have some points one must remember first: for example, our dub had some terrible flaws (like Aphro sounding like a shiny-homo-who-throws-glitter-at-everyone’s-butt and a mu that sounds “passive” most of the time) and this also influenced —still influences, actually— a lot of people, so they tend to ship them according to a persona sometimes the character doesn’t have at all…

So yeah, we do have a lot of absurds going around, but I never thought it would be something so abnormal, given how the series showed up around here hehe.

Don’t worry! I’m glad to talk :D

I know my likings shouldn’t influence my relationship with a person that ships a couple I dislike; for example I dislike Omega but most of my friends kinda like it, so I just ignore Omega, not them. And I didn’t mean to say that all crack fics are bad-written, on the contrary there are very good writers that deal with crack pairings or things from Ita dub, but I personally prefer a plot coherent to the canon SS (if it’s a clear what-if it’s another matter). :)

Yeah, I know what you mean, in Italy good Saga’s dubber is a woman while Seiya quotes Italian poets such as Foscolo, Dante, Leopardi… XDDD

True! I’m also not very fond of omega, but I have a lot of friends who like it, it’s not a problem at all! ´v` Glad to find people who thinks the same as me about this /´v`/

And..A WOMAN? Oh my God, I didn’t knew that. XD But now I can totally imagine [female] Saga and a very cult Seiya drinking tea together while talking about how silly the holy war is — after a long conversation full of poetry and philosophy LOL

;-)

Yes!! XD enjoy! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1G4s-mxFJYM when he switches into his evil side, his voice becomes masculine. I read that his name can be related to genders too but I think the Italian dub went too far XD

And this is Seiya quoting Dante http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vdqnyjel25o ”Vuolsi così colà dove si puote ciò che si vuole” (I found this translation: It is so willed where will and power are one but in Italian it sounds incredibly solemn and majestic! Dante ftw XDD)

This is way too incredible HAHAHAHA I’m amazed. New headcanon: Saga dressed in a (black with red details) Ionic chiton walking flawlessly around the sanctuary with Seiya by his side (wearing nothing but a draped himation) talking about Iliad and Odyssey.

The Sanctuary has never been so noble! HAHA XD
